Ghost Birds

http://www.greenpeace.org.nz/oiloncanvas/ 'Like a countless assembly of small ghostly shadows urging us to do better' - The oil prints featured in this exhibition were made with imprints of the body of a little blue penguin dipped in the oil that killed it spilled by the Rena oil spill in the bay of Plenty. It and the other bird featured in the Oil on Canvas' exhibition are just two of an estimated 20,000 birds killed after the shipwrecked Rena spilled 350 tonnes of oil into the Bay of Plenty. It is hoped that the work can serve as a memorial to the creatures that lost their lives and as a stark warning against the far greater risk posed by deep sea oil drilling in NZ waters.

cry
but do it right.
comes to show how animals are treated in the world.
sad
I've seen on television. This was a cargo oil spill, completely unrelated to offshore drilling. Just because it involves the same medium - hydrocarbons - doesn't necessarily mean it needs to the same consequences. And what evidence do we have to quantify an offshore drilling campaign being 10
00 times worse. Pure emotional blackmail.
will not be supporting them any longer.
higher value on the life of a penguin or seagull than the life of a human being. Why weren't the thousands of dollars spent on this add put to good use, like funding a campaign for starving families or supporting orphanages?
the same way. It will be honest.
cars...
trying to protect.
They all need attention. Promoting one cause isn't an indicator that that is the only cause cared about. Animals get far fewer resources than human causes, yet humans cause these problems. It's not asking too much that we fix the shit we cause. Less narcissism please.
elsewhere.
but well done.
hatred of everything that is productive in any way ,
perished, than your precious little waddling friends. And that is the fundamental problem I have with green-peace organizations: Their ammoral valuing of an animal or tree's "life" over that of a human being.
exist, just like oil and gas production needs to exist.
deal exclusively w. animal.environment based causes...there are other institutes in place to cover the issues of orhans and starvation. you should go hassle them about inadequacies....
